
To commemorate 30 years of Intaka Island, we invite photographers, nature lovers, birdwatchers, and visitors to capture the beauty, biodiversity and spirit of this unique urban wetland through photography. From 01 June – 15 September 2026, participants are encouraged to submit their favourite Intaka Island photograph/s for a chance to be featured in a special commemorative exhibition and publication.
A total of 30 selected photographs will be professionally printed and permanently displayed on the foyer wall exhibition at the Intaka Island Eco Centre, forming part of the island’s 30-year legacy celebration.
From these 30 selected finalists, 3 overall winners will win their share of R30,000 in cash as well as receive invites to the exclusive commemorative event celebrating 30 years of Intaka Island in October.
We look forward to seeing Intaka Island through your lens as we celebrate three decades of nature, conservation, and community.
Participants must submit their photograph/s for entry process by emailing photographs and relevant information in the body of their email HERE (shanely@centurycity.co.za).

Please note:
Entrants must have a high-resolution version of their image/s available. As prints will be made from the chosen photographs, photos need to have suitable resolution for printing.
Orientation can be either portrait or landscape.
Submitted photographs must be taken at or of Intaka Island and may feature its wildlife, waterlife, birdlife, flora, fauna, landscapes, skyline, or natural surroundings.
Competition Dates:
1. The Promoters of this competition are Century City Property Owners’ Association (CCPOA) and Intaka Island Environmental Trust.
2. Please note that, in order to offer the competition, the Promoters must collect and use personal information of the participants for the purpose of conducting the competition in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act of 2020. By entering the competition, participants consent to the Promoters collecting and using their personal information for the purpose of offering the competition and communicating the latest Intaka Island news.
3. By entering this competition, you accept and agree to the following terms and conditions which will govern the competition. Furthermore, you verify that you are unaware of any reason legally prohibiting you from entering this competition and, if the competition requires the submission of photographs, artwork, or images of people, or of anything else that requires consent or copyright, that you have the necessary consent and authority to do so, if required. Any entrant who contravenes these rules may be disqualified from the competition. The rules can only be modified by the Promoter in a written revision posted on the website (https://intaka.co.za/) or via any other official competition communication method.
4. Only entries submitted via email with hi-res image(s), full name, and contact details will be accepted as valid entries.
5. The winner may be required to present a valid ID document to accept the prize. It is the winner’s responsibility to collect the prize from The Century City Property Owners’ Association Office, located at 1 Park Lane, Grand Central, Century City.
6. The competition will run until 23:59 on 15 September 2026. Late or incomplete entries will not be accepted. No responsibility will be accepted for entries lost, delayed, or damaged in transmission. Entries reflected on the Promoter’s records will be treated as the only validation source and will be the only evidence of successful entries.
7. Only hi-res images submitted via email to shanely@centurycity.co.za will be eligible for entry. Photographs must be taken at Intaka Island, any time between 1996 – 2026.
8. 30 Finalists will be selected, with 3 overall winners. The winners will be contacted via the contact details provided on email entry. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not respond to emails within 3 days, or chooses to withdraw from the competition, another winner will be selected as soon as possible.
9. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 winners. Prize details are subject to confirmation and may be amended at the organiser’s discretion.
10. The prize may be subject to additional terms and conditions not mentioned hereunder, but in accordance with relevant South African legislation. The Promoters reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if any original prize becomes unavailable for any unforeseen reason.
11. By entering this competition, the entrant consents that the Promoters may use names and images taken of the winners for publicity purposes, without any remuneration being payable to the winner.
12. You may not enter the competition if you are a director or employee of Intaka Island or CCPOA. You may not enter the competition if you do not consent to your personal information being collected and used by the Promoters for the purposes of conducting the competition and sharing their latest news.
13. Participants in this competition hereby indemnify, release, and hold harmless the Promoters and their successors, employees, officers, and directors from and against any losses, claims, proceedings, actions, damages, liability for harm, injury, or death, demands, expenses or any costs howsoever arising out of their participation in this competition or their use of the prizes, and/or any person with whom they share that prize.
14. The laws of the Republic of South Africa govern this competition.
15. The Competition Organiser reserves the right to cancel, modify or amend the competition at any time if deemed necessary in their own opinion or if circumstances arise outside of their control.
16. The entrant retains copyright in the submitted photograph(s). By entering the competition, the entrant grants Intaka Island a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to reproduce, publish, display, distribute, adapt, edit and otherwise use the photograph(s), in whole or in part, in any media now known or later developed, for marketing, promotional, educational, editorial, conservation-awareness and/or related organisational purposes, without further notice or compensation. Intaka Island will endeavour to credit photographers where reasonably practicable, but shall not be liable for any inadvertent omission of such credit.
