Intaka Island is a Bird Sanctuary as well as Wetland. It has a walking trail/picnic spot, as well as a boat ride on offer. The name “Intaka” means bird in IsiXhosa.

Intaka Island has 30-minute boat rides which leaves from Intaka Island (2 Park Lane Century City), at set times:

MON-THUR 9:30am-3:30pm    

FRI 9:30AM-2PM   

SAT- SUN 9:30am-3:30pm

We offer a combo, which includes both entry and the boat ride. The rates are as follows:

Children @ R80.00

Pensioners @ R80.00

No, we accept walk-in visitors. You can pay for entry on the day at reception.

Day visitors entrance (If you want a guided walk on the island, the price increases by R10 respectively)

No, however you are welcome to bring your food or snacks. We also offer a lunch/snack package (pre booking required).

In addition, the Century City Clubhouse and Coffee Shop, situated about 100m from Intaka’s entrance, offers delicious food and beverages 

Intaka is a Conservation area, so unfortunately, no pets are allowed.

No cycles are allowed on the island, but we do offer beautiful hiking/walking options.

No. If you would like to explore the broader Century City canals, you’re welcome to contact Kayak Adventures to book a kayak trip. 

Yes, we offer a 1km circular route on the island. The Centre has wheelchair access and we can accommodate persons with disabilities on our boats.
