Captain Feathers, our vibrant and friendly mascot, brings an extra dash of fun and excitement to all our events! With his cheerful personality and colourful appearance, Captain Feathers will soon be a favourite among children and adults alike.
Intaka Island’s logo, inspired by the grey heron, a symbol of this vibrant environmental oasis, was creatively transformed into an animated character and digital mascot. This engaging mascot then became the foundation for the Intaka Kids’ Club logo, bringing the spirit of the island to life for our youngest visitors.
Through engagement with the online community, a competition was held in October 2023, with Thato Ditle providing us with the perfect name, Captain Feathers.
“We wanted to create a real-life Captain Feathers for various reasons, but mostly a brand ambassador that children will remember,” says Louise de Roubaix, Environmental and Horticulture Manager at Century City.
“As our official mascot, he embodies our values and helps to create a strong, positive connection between Intaka Island and the community, allowing our team to educate about the environment in a fun way.”
Standing just over two metres tall, Captain Feathers will increase engagement and entertainment, captivating audiences, making markets, school visits, Rangers on the Road programme and community events more enjoyable and engaging for everyone.
“During school visits, Captain Feathers helps to promote learning in a fun and interactive way, encouraging kids to explore new ideas and participate in activities and by appearing at local markets and events, Captain Feathers fosters a sense of community. His presence ensures that our events are memorable, leaving a lasting impression and encouraging repeat attendance.”
Keep an eye out for Captain Feathers at our next event and at Intaka Island – he’s always ready to spread joy and create wonderful memories!
